The Ten Most Powerful Movie Franchises in History
10. Jurassic Park
Even with 2 lukewarm sequels, Jurassic Park still stands tall as one of the crowning achievements of computer-aided graphics and it is to this day one of the most prominent blockbusters of all-time.
9. Indiana Jones
Almost subtly, George Lucas and Steven Spilberg (great cinematic masterminds) unleashed one of the most iconic and unsuspecting heroes in film with Raiders of the Lost Arc in 1981.
8. Shrek
The animated comedy franchise widely hailed as a postmodern fairy tale shows that sometimes princesses and ogres can live happily ever after, after all. Because it is animated and encompasses a great amount of characters, this franchise could live on forever.
7. Spider-Man
Among the recent films adapted from Marvel Comics' stable of heroes, the Spider-Man franchise scores the highest in terms of its box office accomplishment. It has grossed billions world-wide between theatrical releases, DVDs and merchandising sales.
6. Pirates of the Caribbean
Disneyland's Pirates of the Caribbean ride opened in 1967, but it wasn't until 2003 that Disney realized how to turn it into gold. 'Pirates' has brought in more than $2.6 billion in booty at the box office.
5. Batman
The latest installment in the Batman film series set amazing records and it's now one of the most succesful movies in history. Because of that, now Batman franchise is again very lucrative.
4. The Lord of the Rings
Smart merchandising and brilliant filmmaking made Peter Jackson's epic adaptation of Tolkien's trilogy popular with people who had never before thought of visiting Middle-earth. The journey of Frodo, Sam and a gaggle of others to save Middle Earth is one of the most well-documented cinematic adventures of all-time.
3. James Bond
The James Bond films are the longest-running franchise in movie history. The 23 films starring the world's most famous British agent have made a fortune for its producers and brought joy to millions.
2. Harry Potter
With five films and three more comming (HP7 will be split in two parts), the Harry Potter franchise recently has been turned into the most successful movie franchise in history, based on worldwide box office returns, surpassing the box office totals of all 22 James Bond films and the six Star Wars movies. And there's still Harry Potter for a while...
1. Star Wars
With 6 films that have grossed almost $2 billion dollars at the box office and one of the most dedicated fan bases in all of pop culture, there is no question that Star Wars is the most powerful film franchise in history. Since the first film hit theaters on May 25, 1977 there has been no turning back; Star Wars is the king of all movie franchises, there is just no way around it.

The 2011 date means that "Panda" will be sharing the summer box-office schedule with Disney/Pixar's "Cars 2," which Disney moved last week from a 2012 release to summer 2011.
The original "Panda," which grossed more than $626 million worldwide, is DreamWorks Animation's most successful nonsequel. It will be released on DVD and Blu-ray November 9

Movie Review: Baby Blues
If your answer was yes, and if you had ever listened your wife crying after the baby's birth, you may want to try to fix it before it turn into a terrible nightmare.
Baby Blues, tells the horrible story (based on true events) of a woman on a secluded family farm, who suffers a psychotic break due to postpartum depression, and begins to slaughter her four children, one by one.
In this situation, the eldest son is forced to protect his siblings from the mother they have always loved.
If you wanna have a time fearing for the children in the movie, this is a good thriller option.
Directed by Lars E. Jacobson and Amardeep Kaleka, and starring by Collen Porch, Joel Bryant and Ridge Canipe, this film will make you stay on the chair till the very end.

"Dark Knight" to Re-Release for Oscar season
Warner Bros. is in talks with IMAX execs over the prospect of re-releasing the 'Dark Knight' to big-screen venues in January, just in time for Oscar-season.
It is hoped the push will give the film's Academy Award chances one final boost. The movie's success has led to speculation about possible Academy Award nods for director Christopher Nolan and, of course, Heath Ledger, who did a masterful job of portraying the Joker.
Many studios wait until the last week of December to release their movies to ensure they are fresh in the minds of Oscar voters when they fill out their ballots, and Warner Bros. has much of the same in mind with its plan to re-release the movie at the height of the Oscar voting season.
It's not clear if the film will be re-released only in IMAX or conventional venues as well, but with sales finally falling off in recent weeks, we would guess it would only be on IMAX and selected theatres.
It's earned around $950 million at the international box office.

Two new Spiderman movies confirmed!
The studio has also announced that Tobey Maguire and director Sam Raimi will return for the fourth and five installments of the comic book franchise. And although the fate of Kirsten Dunst hasn't been confirmed at this point, she will likely return to reprise her role as Mary Jane Watson now that the key players are locked up.
Rumors had been floating around ever since the third installment that Tobey Maguire could be replaced for the fourth flick, but a studio spokesman has confirmed that was never the case and the studio "never considered any other actor."
We're also hearing that since the next two installments have been green-lighted, Columbia is considering shooting the films back-to-back to save production costs. Much in the way New Line did with the 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy.
Although some were less than pleased with 'Spider-Man 3', the spider is still Columbia's most successful franchise, so the move isn't too surprising.
The fourth movie is currently aiming for a May 2011 release.
